Vitamin D deficiency
About 35% of adults in the United States are deficient in vitamin D, while around 50% have insufficient vitamin D. This key vitamin enters your body through sun exposure, as well as your diet. Vitamin D deficiency is more likely to affect you in the winter months when daylight doesn’t last as long.
You need vitamin D for strong bones and muscles. Without enough of this nutrient, your bone and muscle health suffer. Your bones lose the ability to absorb calcium and phosphorus, which are needed for new bone growth and healthy tissue regeneration.
